VIZIO LCD HDTV 37

I bought it from Sam's Club because it was the cheapest TV that would fit in my TV Cabinet, and I wanted to save money for the time I eventually get a bigger set.

However, I was very surprised by how great the picture on this TV is, and how well laid out the remote is. I was so impressed, I shot off to Sam's Club and bought another one for the bedroom. (It replaced a 22" LCD with viewing angle issues and a very fiddly remote.)

First, the picture, of course, is excellent, even when viewed from an angle. 1080p is stunning, especially when you come from a tube SD TV.

I still have a legacy DIRECTV TiVo, so I'm stuck watching premium and cable shows in Standard Def. When they letterbox an HD show, I can zoom it to full screen, and, the picture looks surprisingly good! (Unless you compare it to any of the HD inputs!) I built a home brew DVR for over the air broadcast (MythTV: Google it.), and I watch all broadcast shows off that, using the RGB port, which looks excellent. (I have some tech issues keeping me from using the HDMI port.)

Now, let's talk about the remote. Nowadays, even amongst some other Vizio models, if you want to use come common functions like Closed Caption or Zoom, you have to navigate through menus to get there, which is a pain if, for example you just want to turn on Closed Caption to catch some mumbled dialog on the TiVo. But, this TV comes with a Vizio Universal Remote Control, that has separate buttons for the features I use the most: Input, Wide (zoom, which is handy for watching Standard Def), Closed Caption (I recommend using closed captions for Americans watching British shows.) I just wish it had a button for RGB.

This is not an LED TV, it's traditional fluorescent back lit, but it is bright, sharp, and vibrant. Unless you're a colorist working in the motion picture industry, I think you'll love this TV if you can find one anywhere.

So I was entering my first year of college and i needed a better TV than what I had, it was some little 20in tube tv that I got for free from a neighbor, so i went and looked all over at all the TV's out there. I was originally looking at another TV by VIzio that was a 42" but it was like $675 for a refurbished one, my dad said no. So i looked further and found this one on Sam's Club website, I was amazed at what I would be getting, a 120hz refresh rate, the highest that the human eye can detect, 1080p, the best picture quaility possible right now, smooth motion technology, i still have not seen a difference with that entirely yet but still, and many other things. this is all in a 37" size TV that is only 2.2" thick and i got it brand new from sam's club all for only $534 with a 3 year warrenty! I was sooooooo happy. but as usual they had to play games on me, i checked at it for 2 weeks straight, each day it was "out of stock" and finally after almost three weeks Sam's Club actually took it off of their website! I was sooooo mad because that meant that I would have to settle for a less quality TV but to my luck i checked again one day about a week after they took it off and it was there! i called my dad up and we ordered it right away! No it turns out that I was one of the last people to be able to buy this TV from Sam's Club because they do not carry it anymore! the thing that made me even more mad though was that my family took a ten day trip down to Texas and we had to have it delievered to my grandparents house. I was soooo mad i wanted to get my vacation over with to be able to see my tv! haha all in all though this tv is amazing and everytime my roommate comes back from classes he says, damn i cannot get over how sweet this tv is! Nice Job Vizio!
